This workshop will help clinicians integrate self-compassion into their therapy practices. There is growing empirical evidence for self-compassion as a transdiagnostic and transtheoretical mechanism of action in therapy. This workshop is an introduction to the theory, research and practice of self-compassion-based therapy. We'll explore the three levels in which self-compassion can be integrated into psychotherapy—compassionate presence, compassionate relationship, and compassionate interventions. Special attention will be given to working with trauma and shame, based on Chris's upcoming book Self-Compassion for Shame (released October 1st). This workshop consists of talks, short meditations, discussion and a role play demonstration.
Who can benefit from this workshop? Mental health professionals and social workers. CE credits are available, see below for more information.
