What to Expect in All Mentor Sessions

These hour-long group sessions are led by highly trained self-compassion teachers who can answer questions and help guide your practice. Build a sense of common humanity as you discuss the benefits and challenges of self-compassion practice with other community members.

Please note that while these mentor session can be beneficial and therapeutic, they are not therapy sessions but instead focus on building the resource of self-compassion.

The Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) affinity sessions are a monthly gathering of those that self-identify as BIPOC individuals that provides a safe place to practice Self-Compassion together. As a beloved community, this session supports the exploration of mindfulness and self-compassion in light of our experiences. Together, we will cultivate an environment that welcomes diverse voices and builds community.

The LGBTQIA2S+ affinity sessions are held monthly for those who self-identify as LGBTQIA2+. These sessions allow a safe space to gather and take a deeper look at issues within the common humanity shared by our unique community. As a family of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, this session supports the exploration of mindfulness and self-compassion that is particular to our life experiences. By discovering our group’s journies, we can welcome our rich diversity and build community and support.

Meet Our Self-Compassion Mentors

JAMES ROSSER

James Rosser is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and is the Director of Outpatient Programs for the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital. James has meditated for over 30 years and is a Trained Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher.

LAILA NARSI

Laila Narsi, LCSW, CMMT, CMT-P is a licensed psychotherapist since 1997 specializing in complex trauma and disassociation and is is a certified EMDR Therapist.  Laila started her meditation journey in the Sufi tradition. She is also a Certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher.

AMY NOELLE

Amy Noelle is certified in many mindfulness interventions, including Mindful Self Compassion, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Performance Enhancement,
Awareness, and Knowledge, and Mindful and Intuitive Eating.
