Many caregivers wonder how to help young children deal skillfully with their difficult feelings and treat themselves with kindness. Each child is unique, and there’s not a one-size-fits-all approach for helping kids grow self-compassion. In this workshop, we will explore how you can customize self-compassion for particular children, including modeling, conversation, and play. You will experience many of the playful activities and metaphors that Jamie Lynn developed for her Mindfulness and Self-Compassion for Children and Caregivers (MSC-CC) program. For instance, you’ll learn how animals can be a gateway for conversations about feelings with kids, and how you can make the components of self-compassion accessible for children. You will leave equipped with effective ideas and creative exercises that will help you support yourself and the young children in your life.
Who can benefit from this workshop? Parents, grandparents, clinicians, social workers and educators of kids. The target age is caregivers of kids 6-12, but the content is also relevant for older and younger children.
The workshop will be recorded. A couple of days after the event, we will send all registrants a link to the recording, which you can review at your convenience for the next 60 days.

Our programs are designed to teach participants the tools needed to develop and cultivate a self-compassion practice. It is not a substitute for mental health care, personal therapy or medical treatment.
Personal safety and emotional wellbeing are the foundation of self-compassion training, and you are responsible for your own safety.
Teachers and facilitators are not expected, or able to provide medical and/or psychological care. Course experiences may bring up challenging memories or feelings.
If you have a history with a mental health condition or other concerns you think may impact your ability to take this course, please contact us or your healthcare professional to determine if this course is right for you. Your personal contact information may be used in the event the teacher or facilitator reasonably determines a need to call emergency services on your behalf.
If, in the opinion of the teachers and facilitators, you are not able to participate productively and appropriately in the event you have registered for, you may be asked to leave the workshop, or be removed from it.

Self-Compassion Educator and Author
Jamie Lynn Tatera has a passion for helping children and their caregivers become more self-compassionate. She is a certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher and developer of the Mindfulness and Self-Compassion for Children and Caregivers (MSC-CC) program, a researched parent-child adaptation of the Mindful Self-Compassion program. Jamie Lynn has taught mindfulness and self-compassion to children ages 3-18, and is the author of the Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Workbook for Kids.
