Personal Safety and Participation Policy

If you are experiencing or have experienced mental, emotional, or physical challenges that may cause you to be emotionally or physically triggered as a result of taking this course, please contact the teacher and/or your healthcare professional in advance to determine if this course is the appropriate choice for you.

Group Safety: Participants may be removed to ensure that we provide the safest space for our participants and teachers.

The decision to remove a participant from the event will be  based upon (including but not limited to):

  • Comments intentionally causing discomfort to other participants
  • Use of language that can be considered offensive, unkind, aggressive or threatening
  • Any berating, verbal harassment, and/or abuse to participants and/or instructor(s).

The removed participant will still be subject to the full cost of tuition.

Scholarship Policy

Scholarships Requests:

Scholarship requests must be submitted via an online form. The form needs to be completed in its entirety. 

Eligibility for Scholarships:

Scholarships are allocated based on a holistic criteria, taking in both the applicant’s need and organizational resources and commitments.  We will only review scholarship applications submitted in a timely fashion. 

Scholarship Privacy: 

We do not disclose scholarship recipients. We do not share personal, private information in regard to scholarship.

Scholarship Process:

Because we have a limited number of scholarships available, anyone interested in applying  for a scholarship should apply as early as possible before the workshop.  Most  scholarship decisions will be concluded and communicated to the participant approximately two weeks before the requested workshop.

Scholarship Amount & Allotment:

Scholarships are 1/2 the full price of registration for non-members. Depending on the number of registrants, there are anywhere between 1-5 scholarships available for each course.

Refund Policy

Eligibility for Refund:

Refunds will only be considered for participants who have paid the required fees.

Refunds will not be given for missed coupon codes or other partial fees.

Participants who have needed to be removed from a course or workshop due to unacceptable behavior outlined in our Group Safety policy will still be subject to the full cost of tuition. 

Participants must provide a valid reason for their refund request by email.

Non-Refundable Fees:

Certain fees associated with the course, such as administrative fees or material fees, may be non-refundable.  

Refund Amount Based on Timing:

All workshops canceled 30 days prior to the start date will receive a full refund minus any financial transaction fees and non-refundable fees listed on the workshop page. Workshops canceled 29-15 days prior to the start date will additionally be subject to a 15% cancellation fee.  Cancellations made less than 15-2 days prior to the start date will be subject to a 25% cancellation fee. Cancellations within 24 hours of the event start will not receive a refund.

Refund Process:

  1. Refund requests should be submitted to SCCommunity@self-compassion.org. Once a refund request is received via email, it will be reviewed.
  2. The refund decision will be communicated to the participant via email within 7-10 days. We ask for your patience and understanding when requesting a refund.  
  3. Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method.

Exceptions and Discretion:

The Self-Compassion Community e reserves the right to make decisions at our discretion. We may consider special circumstances and work with the participant to find an appropriate solution, such as deferring the course enrollment or transferring the enrollment to a future course.
