For the first time in three years, MSC founders Dr. Kristin Neff and Dr. Chris Germer are offering a rare in-person Core Skills Workshop! This unique opportunity, hosted by the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion, allows participants to experience their guidance firsthand in a live setting. The MSC Core Skills workshop, is designed for individuals who want to integrate self-compassion into their personal lives and professional work. It is open to the general public and provides a total of 12 hours of training over two days.
When we fail, make mistakes, or are faced with life challenges, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, inadequate, and disconnected from ourselves and others. In these moments, self-compassion, especially when practiced in community, can serve as a powerful tool for grounding, healing, and connection.
By offering ourselves the same kindness, understanding, and care that we would a close friend, we can navigate the imperfections of life with greater self-acceptance, resilience, and clarity. Practicing self-compassion in community helps us reconnect with our inner and collective wisdom, fostering a sense of inner peace and strength.
Dr. Neff and Dr. Germer, the pioneers who created the empirically-supported Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program and co-founded of the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion, are donating their time to lead this valuable experience. The event takes place from 9-4:30pm Pacific Time over two days.

Ashley Kuchar, PhD is a former star college basketball player and the founder of Fail Better Training, which teaches athletes, coaches, and professionals how to use self-compassion to improve their performance. Ashley completed her dissertation under the supervision of Kristin Neff at the University of Texas at Austin. She developed the RESET resilience program, an empirically supported self-compassion training program that was found to increase athlete adaptive coping and athletic performance.
Many people in the business and sports world assume that self-compassion interferes with motivation and performance, but building inner strength and acting as a wise supportive coach actually helps us achieve our full potential.
Join us for a conversation as we explore the research on self-compassion for athletes, and Ashley's impactful work in fostering resilience and well-being in sports and beyond!

In this workshop, you will learn self-compassion tools that can be taught to teens to help them support themselves through challenging times. Through acquiring these vital coping skills, teens learn how to be less self-critical and how to be their own inner coach or own best friend. Studies show that teens who learn how to be more self-compassionate report lower stress, anxiety, and depression – and even less suicidal thinking. An overview of this research will be presented in the workshop. The workshop will be fun and interactive – you will learn practical self-compassion skills by engaging in activities and exercises. Finally, you will discover how to implement the self-compassion skills you have learned with the teens in your life.
Who can benefit from this workshop? Parents, educators, social workers, coaches, counselors, therapists, or anyone who works with teens. CE credits are available, see below for more information.

A three-hour online workshop by Dr. Kristin Neff, June 21tst 11-2pm CT, sponsored by CMSC.
Most of us are quite practiced at being kind to others, especially in caregiver roles. Whether we have a high-needs child, an elderly parent, an ill partner, or are a professional caregiver such as a doctor, nurse, therapist, or teacher, we know to give support and comfort to the people who need us. But how many of us offer that same level of compassion to ourselves?
If our caring just goes one way – outward but not inward – we will eventually become drained and depleted. Self-compassion is crucial for caregivers because it allows us to resource ourselves so that we can continue our good work in the world.
This workshop will present theory and research on the key role that self-compassion plays for caregivers. A variety of practices will be taught that can help you maintain equilibrium in difficult caregiving situations. You will also explore how to meet your needs in a balanced and fulfilling manner.
The workshop is relevant for the general public as well as professional caregivers.

Life can be overwhelming, and the constant demands we face often leave us feeling depleted. Developing self-compassion isn’t just about feeling good—it’s about fostering the inner strength to navigate challenges with wisdom and care. There are two ways to join: in person in Amsterdam or online. Either way, you can learn from one of the world’s leading voices on self-compassion, and connect with others on a similar journey. Don’t miss the chance to embrace the transformative power of tender and fierce self-compassion. What You’ll Learn in This WorkshopTender self-compassion embraces the power of acceptance to comfort and soothe. It’s about nurturing yourself with a gentle, validating presence. Fierce self-compassion, on the other hand, channels the power of action to protect and motivate. It’s brave, energetic, and encourages you to set boundaries and stand up for your needs. Like yin and yang, these two sides of self-compassion work together to create balance and wholeness. During the workshop, you’ll learn practical tools to respond to life’s challenges with greater self-compassion, including:
Who Is This Workshop For?This workshop is designed to benefit everyone, regardless of their experience with mindfulness or self-compassion practices.
Whether you’re a mental health professional, a mindfulness practitioner, or someone simply seeking to live with more courage and ease, this workshop offers valuable insights for personal growth and resilience.

This workshop is offered on a sliding scale basis. Pay what you can afford. The LGBTQ+ community faces daily challenges in our world, especially right now. Coming together as a community with our allies allows us to revisit the essential nature of our pride in who we are. The kind of genuine pride we need is brought about by heartfelt self-compassion. This self-compassion comes from learning to gently, kindly, and lovingly show up for ourselves daily and knowing how to care for and love ourselves. We draw boundaries to protect ourselves (kindness), find others who are like us (common humanity), and see and speak what is true (mindfulness). We ask ourselves what we need and listen to the answer. We take steps to fulfill our longings (kindness) supported by knowledge of our authentic needs (mindfulness). Mindfulness and deep kindness help us envision the world we want to live in. The world we all need to live in. We will celebrate the wisdom and artistry of our own LGBTQ+ siblings as they reflect on self-compassion. This workshop will help people in the queer community find strength and self-acceptance while navigating unique challenges. You will learn powerful self-compassion practices tailored for LGBTQ+ experiences, fostering resilience and authentic self-expression. Who can benefit from this workshop? Anyone who identifies as part of the queer community, or else who is a parent of or works closely with LGBTQ+ people.
