Howard Schubiner, MD, is an internist and a Clinical Professor at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He has authored more than 150 publications in scientific journals and books. He lectures regionally, nationally, and internationally and is the author of Unlearn Your Pain: The Science of Recovering from Chronic Pain, Fatigue, Anxiety and Depression. His other books are The Unlearn Your Pain Workbook, The Unlearn Your Anxiety and Depression Workbook, and Hidden From View, written with Dr. Allan Abbass.
Join Kristin as she talks with Dr. Howard Schubiner about the science behind chronic pain, how unexpressed emotions can generate physical pain, and how self-compassion can support the process of recovery. They’ll discuss research showing that learning to stand up for yourself and assert one’s needs, expressing yourself authentically, and treating yourself with compassion can alter neural circuits and actually reverse chronic pain.
