A three-hour online workshop by Dr. Kristin Neff, February 15th, sponsored by CMSC.
When most people think of self-compassion, they consider the tender, nurturing aspect of this mindset that allows us to be with our pain and accept ourselves in a supportive way. But self-compassion can be fierce as well as tender.
Fierce self-compassion involves taking action in the world to protect, provide and motivate ourselves to alleviate suffering. It means saying “no” to others who are hurting us – drawing our boundaries firmly. It helps us to take a firm stance against injustice or unfairness without dehumanizing others.
This workshop will focus on the fierce aspect of self-compassion through lecture and experiential exercises. By learning to balance fierce and tender self-compassion, you can begin to speak up, draw boundaries, and stand up for yourself with greater confidence.
The workshop is most relevant for those who already have some experience and knowledge of self-compassion.
