Attend a free, live, 45-minute introductory online group session to learn the basics about how self-compassion can help you cope with grief. You will be introduced to some core ideas about how self-compassion can serve as your anchor, offering comfort when you need it most. Highlights will be given from Syndey Spears’ upcoming workshop (on Oct 25th), which explores how to navigate the complex journey of loss with “gentle grace” and self-kindness.

The session will be recorded. Within a day or two of the event, we will send all registrants a link to the recording, which you can review at your convenience for the next 30 days.

Our programs are designed to teach participants the tools needed to develop and cultivate a self-compassion practice. It is not a substitute for mental health care, personal therapy or medical treatment.
Personal safety and emotional wellbeing are the foundation of self-compassion training and you are primarily responsible for your own safety.
Teachers and facilitators are not expected or able to provide medical and/or psychological care. Course experiences may bring up challenging memories or feelings.
If you have a history with a serious mental health condition or other concerns you think may impact your ability to take this course, please contact us or your healthcare professional to determine if this course is right for you. Your personal contact information may be used in the event the teacher or facilitator reasonably determines a need to call emergency services on your behalf.
Participation is at the discretion of the teachers and facilitators at all times.
If, in the opinion of the teachers and facilitators, you are unable to participate productively and appropriately in the event you have registered for, you may be asked to discontinue.
Decisions of removal are to ensure that we provide the safest space possible for our participants and teachers.

Sydney Spears, PhD, is a certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher, an adaptive yoga facilitator, a mindfulness instructor, and professor in the Kansas City area. She is passionately committed to advancing social justice efforts through providing and maintaining a non-oppressive, trauma-sensitive, and culturally responsive practice. Sydney is also author of Finding Self-Compassion: A Mindfulness Workbook for Getting to Know and Love Yourself.
