Chris Germer, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and part-time lecturer in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. In 2010, he worked with Kristin Neff to co-develop the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program, which has since been taught to hundreds of thousands of people around the globe. They also co-founded the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (CMSC), which conducts MSC teacher training. Together, they co-authored three influential books on MSC: The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook, Teaching the Mindful Self-Compassion Program, and Mindful Self-Compassion for Burnout.
Chris is also one of the world’s leading experts in the role of self-compassion in psychotherapy, exploring its importance for both therapists and clients. Â He helped develop the Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy program offered by CMSC. He is also author of The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion and co-author of Wisdom and Compassion in Psychotherapy.
